(alphabetical value U)

All of the Runes have an image, or symbol, that sets the train of recollection, ideology, and meaning in motion. This image isn't the 'meaning' of the rune, it is the picture that sparks off of the meaning and gives it form and reality.

The prompt-symbol for Ur is auroch. Aurochs were huge, musk-ox-like buffaloes that were indigenous to Europe. Like their counterparts around the world, they were not able to be domesticated and so stand for wildness and strength. Ur forms a pair with Feoh: the one is freedom and the other is slavery. Ur thus poses a question, “What is the outcome of the choices we are making?” We must be careful not to give up essential freedoms in the search for security.

In this age, we must also look to the past, and remember that the auroch, symbol of freedom and power, is now extinct.
