All of the Runes have an image, or symbol, that sets the train of recollection, ideology, and meaning in motion. This image isn't the 'meaning' of the rune, it is the picture that sparks off of the meaning and gives it form and reality.

Thorn is its own symbol. Thorns work two ways; they are troublesome and pick at us but at the same time they can keep dangers from breaking through to threaten us. Thorn indicates that things should be done in the correct way; following the right path avoids the thorns while the thorns protect the right path. Pushing out of the pathway causes the thorns to prick and pull.
