All of the Runes have an image, or symbol, that sets the train of recollection, ideology, and meaning in motion. This image isn't the 'meaning' of the rune, it is the picture that sparks off of the meaning and gives it form and reality.

The prompt-symbol for Is is ice. Is is the frozen rune of standstill. “Take no action!” it warns. Although it is a rune of warning and stopping, it is not a 'bad' rune. It is also the basis of all Bind-Rune magic, the lever which causes change to be fixed in place. It signals the ending, stasis, and termination. All lives need a season of reflection and rest, and Is signals that need is uppermost.
