All of the Runes have an image, or symbol, that sets the train of recollection, ideology, and meaning in motion. This image isn't the 'meaning' of the rune, it is the picture that sparks off of the meaning and gives it form and reality.

The prompt-symbol for Hagal is hail-storm. Hail storms are fierce and destructive. Almost without warning, everything is threatened and disrupted. Much will be lost, this rune warns, but the essential will remain. The storm passes quickly, spending itself in a brief burst of power. In the clear air that follows the storm, we must see what has been lost and re-build what is necessary.
