All of the Runes have an image, or symbol, that sets the train of recollection, ideology, and meaning in motion. This image isn't the 'meaning' of the rune, it is the picture that sparks off of the meaning and gives it form and reality.

The prompt-symbol for Elhaz is the warding hand. It is the motion which sets a protective shield around its perimeter. It is the Magic of 'look away' and 'not here' that re-directs evil intentions. At the same time that this rune warns, it also protects, and reminds that having one's protections in place should free one from fear. Elhaz is also the continual re-affirmation of the Love and Protection of the Home Gods.
