(alphabetical value D)

All of the Runes have an image, or symbol, that sets the train of recollection, ideology, and meaning in motion. This image isn't the 'meaning' of the rune, it is the picture that sparks off of the meaning and gives it form and reality.

The prompt-symbol for Dag is Oak. The Oak is the Warrior of Summer, the Young King. Thus, Oak symbolizes Mid-Summer and mid-day and, by extrapolation, all high points. Things working out right is the message. Visually, the image of the rune is a double-headed ax, symbolizing strong protection. But at the same time the same rune is symbolized by a butterfly, the epitome of Summer and lightness. Both of these symbols combine in the saying that the rune cuts both ways. Although Mid-Summer is the longest day, and noon the peak of the day this good message also tells us that all other days and times are a little less bright and that everything must balance.
